Battle Of The Brands - Which Affordable Fashion Brand Is Best?

Battle Of The Brands - Which Affordable Fashion Brand Is Best?

Intro

I always get asked which brand is the absolute best for affordable basics. That's what I'm going to be answering today. I'm going to run through each brand and tell you what I think they do well and what I think they don't do so well and then at the end of the blog, I'll Crown one the overall winner if there's a brand you think should have been on this list but isn't on this list then do let me know maybe I haven't reviewed them or I don't know them that well but uh yeah let me know if you like the blog at any point please do drop it a like and now that's all out the way let's get into the brands. so let's start with a first now when it comes to

Arket

So let's start with a first now when it comes to affordable brands, Arket is on the pricier side. But I do think their products are worth the price, for the most part, they do have their strong points and not-so-strong points but I don't think you can go that wrong with any of the items from the brand one of my favorite and most worn t-shirts of the Year probably my most worn is their heavyweight tea and I love it. I've talked about it a lot on the channel so you probably don't need to hear about it again but uh yeah check it out if you haven't already said that I did also try out their midweight tea and the fit was completely different and I didn't like it on me at all there was nothing wrong with it it just wasn't my cup of tea but another area where Arket Shine for me is with their overshirts.

I think for the price you're going to have a really hard time finding anything that beats them here from my experience the fit is always on point and the quality is always solid I've also had coats from them Giles and jackets and the quality has always been top I've also worn their jeans a lot and their trousers a lot and I've loved them but where they do sometimes fall short for me is with their knitwear and their sweatshirt sometimes the materials they use in their knitwear is not what I want and also the fit can be a little bit too basic for me and often quite big I've never actually found a sweatshirt or a piece of knitwear that I've loved from the brand um yeah so it's not somewhere I tend to look for those kinds of items and while we're here another small gripe

I've got with the brand on some of their images, especially with the trousers they don't have any pictures of a model wearing the products I know it might sound a little bit Petty but I can't get an idea of how a pair of trousers are going to fit from a flat lay image so it either puts me off buying them or I order them in and the fit is completely different to what I was expecting and it's a bit of a pain having to send them back overall they're not pushing any boundaries their stuff is really simple but sometimes that's exactly what I want and I do rate them.

COS

So let's move on to COS next, so I would say the quality of CA is on par with Arket which from my experience is good by the way the price points are about the same, and even though they both do Basics they are a little bit different now I always think of Arket and COS as brothers they are owned by the same company after all I always think of Arket as the sensible brother who likes to keep things classic and simple and c as the more adventurous Wilder brother they're both from the same family and they do share a lot of the same characteristics.

But they do have different personalities hopefully that makes sense and if not then basically C is more experimental with their Silhouettes at times this can be a really good thing but sometimes it can be their downfall for me I love how they're more experimental and when you wear a lot of simple pieces like I do it's nice to have some more interesting cards but I do find a lot of their tops are too boxy too wide or too oversized for my taste some of it is just a little bit too much even when I size down to a size small it's still like I'm drowning in material and that's not the kind of look that I go for these days.

I also think they go in waves so sometimes they'll have a lot of stuff that I want and then there'll be long periods where they're not producing anything exciting and I tend to not buy anything from them but where the brand do it for me is with their trousers the quality has always been solid in my experience and you get some nice cuts for a reasonable price you'd expect to pay a lot more for anything similar from other brands and I do think the trousers from CA give off a higher end look overall I do love CA I do rate them but I haven't found myself buying that much from them recently.

Weekday

Let's move on to weekdays so I would say this. the brand is aimed at more of younger men than myself but I still find plenty of things that I love about them like ca they are more experimental with their fits and it keeps things interesting weekday is another brand that's owned by the same company as CA and Arket and they fit into my make-believe family very nicely I think of weekday as the even Wilder younger brother of COA and Arket and sometimes he goes too wild I think of weekday as a bit of an allrounder brand I do think you can find things in all areas of what they offer but it is a bit Hit or Miss for me they often take the oversized look or the crop look to the extremes and that's not my kind of thing

But I do know that's really on Trend right now the way is definitely the most Trend focused on this list and that can work for some but it doesn't always work for me generally I like to go for more Timeless pieces and I do think what weekday currently offer will look a little bit dated in a few years now weekday is more affordable than Arket and CA but to keep their prices down they do cut corners and this is quite often seen in the materials that they use not great but saying that every item I've ever bought from them has held up well and I wear them a lot. so next up we've got one a lot of you have probably been waiting for and it's Unico

Unico

So next up we've got one a lot of you have probably been waiting for and it's Unico, so a few years ago Unico was my favorite brand for Basics but I think they went through a little bit of a rough patch however I do think they're back on track and I have been buying a lot more from them recently I think when Unico hit they hit like with this jacket for example now some of you are probably sick of seeing me in this because I talk about it a lot but I love it I'm also a little bit obsessed with their waffle long sleeves at the moment and I have just ordered three more before this blog.

I'll leave a link to them in the description box along with everything else from this blog if you're interested but I think Unico is a well well-rounded brand and I do think they've got something for everyone the quality for the price is unbeatable in my opinion and they keep things really interesting with the collaborations that they do they often collaborate with JW Anderson Kristoff L mer and Jill sander for example and although not all of the collaborations have been the best I'm always excited to see them and I love that they do them.

I think it can introduce people into the Fashion World more and you can get some really interesting pieces for a more affordable price the only gripe I do have with them is with their trousers I wish they'd for exact way sizes instead of a small and medium and large a lot of the time the way sizes don't fit me properly and I know they have drawstrings in a lot of their trousers but it still looks a little bit sloppy.

HM H&M

So this is probably the cheapest brand on the list but I do think you get what you pay for sometimes you can find the odd gem but a lot of the time the material feels cheap and the clothing doesn't tend to fit me well for me I'd rather buy less and spend more at the likes of Co and Arket to get a similar look but more high-end you're going to get better quality items they're going to fit you a lot better and they're going to last you a lot longer is H&M the worst brand out there no far from it and I do think they are worth checking out from time to time.

But I'd rather shop elsewhere now a lot of people on the channel ask me why I don't shop at Zara and that's because I see it like H&M but worse the colors fade the materials rip easily and they don't tend to look good after a few washes so for me even though the clo things cheap no amount of money is worth spending on an item that doesn't get me excited doesn't fit me well and doesn't last long saying that though I've heard a lot of people say recently that their quality has improved so if that's true and anyone knows more about this than I do then please do let me know but for me Zara have always been one of those Brands where it looks amazing on the website but as soon as you get the pieces in hand they're not so great but Brands can change they can improve and if they have improved then I would be willing to give them another go again.

So out of all the brands on this list who is going to be crowned the grand champion well the top three for me are Co Arquette and Unico but if I have to choose a winner then the winner is are you tens I'm tens it's Unico they've got something for everyone no matter what your style no matter what your age you can create fashion-forward outfits out of their pieces or just keep things simple. I love their collaborations it keeps things exciting and you never know which collaboration they're going to do next of course that clothing isn't perfect but overall I do think they're a worthy winner let me know if you agree with me or not and which brand would win.
